Hiring a Sales Manager
After conducting interviews for the position of sales manager to handle the sales of fiber optics, I have settled on Jyoti for several reasons. First, this job requires someone who is knowledgeable about fiber optics. On this point, Jyoti has sufficient knowledge and experience. She has worked for a wireless phone company before. Her previous company dealt with fiber optics amongst other related products. This also means that she knows the latest developments and the direction of the future in terms of fiber optics (Miller, 2009). She is also knowledgeable in sales, having worked as a salesperson and even trained other salespeople (Beveridge, 2009). From the interview, she came across as articulate and convincing, two qualities that are very crucial for a salesperson (Bell, 2011). Her previous company made her in-charge of training other sales people, and she did an excellent job. I feel that she has enough knowledge and experience to succeed in this new position.
This position of sales manager involves travelling throughout the week. The new recruit will have to go and meet with representatives from the various companies that are our clients. Jyoti says that she is single; therefore, she will be able to travel as required without the burden of marriage and children weighing her down. This is especially important since the job sometimes involves meeting with clients after work hours. She will be able to accomplish this much easier than if she had a spouse and children waiting for her at home. From her previous job, Jyoti made connections and business ties that are going to be very helpful to our company. She is well positioned to bring in new clients that she has worked with before.
