Introduction
Education is a fundamental aspect that needs inclusion in the society. Education is fundamental since it helps people to value and evaluate their skills and learn new aspects and issues. The fundamentals of education hold increased contribution to development. Education definition is the process whereby people learn or participate in the learning process by acquiring new knowledge or skills. It takes a different perspective from learning. This is because people go to school to learn education. Education takes different forms and perspectives. For example, there is informal and formal education (Wolk, 2011). Informal education takes place in other areas of the environment apart from learning institutions. Formal education, on the other hand, takes place within a learning environment. The presence of formal education has thus created the need for an educational system. An educational system is a procedure or a system employed by a country by which students in institutions learn. Educational systems vary across the world, because of various factors. The factors may include issues such as economic aspect or stability of the nations. Most educational systems get acknowledged by the use of years. For example, a country that uses the 8:4:4 method means that a student would spend eight years in lower primary, four years in high school and finally another four years in university or college. However, other countries use different systems such as 7:3:2:2 with the inclusion of O levels. This shows that education among countries varies. The years by which a person should start going to school also varies among countries.
Research shows that most educational systems in the world fail to achieve the best out of students. The reasons for the failure also vary. For example, in African countries and most under-developed countries, research shows that most governments provide poor educational systems to keep people informed. Having unlearned people in the society would see to it that the government easily manipulates people’s ideas. They take this to their advantage in order for them to rule the people easily. The second reason is that the countries continue using the same educational systems that were in place since colonial times (Wolk, 2011). This means that the educational systems are just in place for people to learn, but not for them to acquire the most out of the systems. This creates inefficient educational systems. Having to switch to a new educational system seems to be a burden and the governments tend to ignore the problem. However, the most widely accepted reason is the fact that most countries use a capitalism economic aspect. This sees to it that education gets privatized. The level of education given to schools, therefore, takes different qualities. This means that the best education gets retained to the elite people of the society, compared to persons who need education the most. This creates diversities and inequalities in the educational systems, proving to be inefficient.
However, certain methods may be applied to create an efficient and reliable educational system. First of all, a proper educational system should not have nationwide exams or final tests. It should have monthly tests and continuous assessments by teachers. This means that students will not only prepare for the final exam. Most students only go to learning institutions to pass exams. Parents at home ask their children, not for what they learnt, but for the grades they have had. A proper educational system should get this mentality out of people in the society. The students should have continuous test for them to acquire the most out of education and not just to pass the final exam.
A good educational system should also see to it that there is equity in the provision of education. This requires the intervention of the government. The government should create a system that caters for equity in education. Private schools and public schools should offer the same quality of education (Wolk, 2011). Different qualities of educations leave uneven distribution of education. If the system gets standardized, then education provided would be proficient.
An excellent educational system should be one that is tailor-based in regard of the country. If the country focuses more on agriculture, then the educational system should provide subjects that increase the production of agriculture, with a diverse inclusion of other sectors such as mining. This sees to it that there is diversities and specialization (Wolk, 2011). It should also be able to identify talents within students at a young age, and foster the nourishment of the talent. This allows a diverse method of teaching that makes sure that the students get the most out of education.
Conclusion
An excellent educational system cannot be complete without the inclusion of reliable and efficient teachers. The teacher’s performance should get tested, and incompetent teachers get fired. Their paper work should display their results in students. It is teachers who are responsible for the better performances of the educational systems. Not just any teacher should get employed. The dream of a standardized educational system could be a reality if all this issues were put into implementation. Education is a fundamental aspect of the economy or growth of a nation. The government should see to it that the systems work efficiently, and students get the most out of education.
