IRAQ IN THE 21 CENTURY

Iraq’s political and social history had been freckled by the increased war and crises in the country. It is one of the countries, which have been under dictatorship for long. Seventy percent of the residents in this country are Arabs whereas the rest are non-Arabs. On January 31, 2009, this country held its elections in all the provinces around it these elections were for the provincial council. In the year, 2010 elections took place in the country. Competition among the candidates were highly based on a new electoral structure that provided direct election amongst the candidates of the representative council who would then bear the responsibility of electing the president and approval of the executives. The national movement won most seats and later Jalal Talabani elected for a second term as the Iraq’s president by the council while Osama al-Nujayfi as the speaker.
Since the year, 2010 to the year 2012 life in the country has been good than in the past years where terrorist cases and of suicide bombing had increased in Iraq since the American government, decided to remove its soldiers from the country and instead replace them with a religious troop of soldiers. In the current years death rates caused by the war has decreased by a great ratio. Iraq political and social life has changed currently the Iraqis citizens are living an apprehensive life with the fears of being suicide victims.
Agriculture being one of the economic activities and the second largest job source in the country after the oil sector has improved for the recent years this is due to the government support with the aim of improving. The countries government together with the USA government is providing great support in order to improve the agricultural sector and make it more modern and productive. Trade in this country has been good since the UN attacked Kuwait and allowed Iraq to export oil there are also high expectations of the completion of the WTO a membership that will highly help Iraq to establish a stable and transparent economy that will help in both foreign and domestic investment. This is different from the past 10 years whereby the country’s economy has gone down for the increased attacks poor leadership have also much contributed to the fall of the economy.
There are different groups living in the country, namely the Sunnis, the Shiites and the Kurds. The Sunnis and the Shiites are two main Islam’s version of the Catholics and the Protestants while the Kurds belong to a race of Arab and other nations. Most likely Kurds are a combination of the shits and Sunnis these groups are up to date not united an act clearly demonstrated in the government. The Sunnis are currently facing terrorism charges due to the rise in corresponding car bomb and suicide assault mostly aiming the Shiites. The Sunnis made a dominant political class under Saddam Hussein their former leader. The three groups are always playing the blame game always blaming each other for the bad that has happened to them. In the Iraqis, political field the top officials are from the three tribes these contributes much towards the blame game this disputes are mainly because of the oil fields in the northern part of the country.
