Horizontal violence
Among the evident problems in the workplace is the horizontal violence that exhibits clashes amongst the workers of the organization. The clashes and problems amongst the employees might emanate from intolerance of one another’s ideas and the general misunderstanding amidst the employees. The misunderstandings might be accompanied by emotions that compel individuals to form malicious notions against one another. In an organizational set up, ethics and diplomacy are fundamental factors that can determine the presence or absence of harmony in the work place.
In the workplaces there can be various violence acts committed by different individuals. In the work place, violence can be performed by a worker against a coworker, the violence can be committed against the supervisor, can be committed by a criminal eh does not work in place or against the organizational property. There are a number of practices regarded as the violence as they pose the abnormality and invokes perceptions that may be regarded as aggressive and unfriendly. The practices entail; facing away when communication is attempted, folding the arms, rolling the eyes and lack of cohesiveness. Horizontal can as well be constituted to by social factors in the organization such as backbiting, gossiping, divisiveness, criticism and discourtesy.
The problem is mainly caused by lack of diplomacy, ethics and ill professionalism equipments. The diplomatic aspect is exceptionally significant amongst the individuals of a given work set up. Diplomacy equips workers with the means of obtaining solutions to problems without involving personal desires for satisfaction. Employees without diplomatic traits would always opt for physical means of solving issues amongst them. The accepted cords of conduct enable employees to understand the significance of morality in a social set up and develop better ways of improving their working relations. With the manifestation of ethics in the work place, there would be upright thinking that accommodates everyone’s views and practices given that they are moral. The professionalism aspect enables the workers to implement best features that embrace proficiency in the system.
The problem can be solved by inserting the missing components that are basic for the organizations working environment. The workers should be enlightened about the etiquette. The enlightenment can be implemented among the employees through seminars. Tutors can be hired to offer training to the workers in order to encourage them to possess friendly means of tackling issues. A vocational training can be employed on the workers to encourage them to embrace ethics in the workplace. However, this process should be continuous and finally monitored to verify the alteration in the workers behavior in the place of work.
Accepting this proposal will accompany numerous benefits to the organization. The workers will gain the required knowledge for tackling their daily problems in the work place. The problems experienced by the workers during their activities have never caused significant effects, but the inability to solve the issues is what has resulted into horizontal violence. The workers shall learn how to relate well with one another in the organization. In an organization, the workers relationships are critical since it determines the workers attitudes and work output. The diplomatic skills will enhance the employee-customer relationships in the business. The customers are the most significant party in an organization relating well with the customers will increase sales and profits to the business. Finally by relating well with one another in the organization, the workers will experience significant cohesion and unity at work. The unity among the workers will foster teamwork that will translate into an increased output in the firm.
