Currently the world is experiencing high levels of technological advancement. Therefore, mobile technology plays a very significant role in the development and success of business. Mobile phones are one of the best examples of mobile technology that has been used to make business become more efficient.
Mobile phones have so far facilitated banking operations. With the adoption of mobile banking, customers are able to retrieve account information and carry out transactions such as processing bill payments, moving funds within different accounts and authenticating deposits and various transactions. Business is also capable of making orders and purchases through websites by use of mobile phones.
Mobile technology has enabled customers to easily pay for goods and services without using checks or cash. Consequently, mobile phones have enabled business men to work efficiently while out of office by allowing them to retrieve their database and accounting systems. Efficiency is also enhanced whereby customers easily check the available stock and prices and also place online orders. Mobile phones have largely improved flexibility by facilitating working while travelling or from home.
However, there are some drawbacks accompanied with mobile technology such network problems. Access is limited in rural areas which in most cases experience network issues. In addition there are many security issues associated with mobile technology and internet. This is where hackers may get access and interfere with the organizations operation systems.
Consequently, there are high expenses incurred in the establishment of mobile technologic systems. The initial cost accompanied with buying, maintenance, updating and training personnel is quit high. Moreover, in case of system failure, intense loss of revenue due to loss of services might occur or stop the production process. Despite the negative aspects associated with mobile technology, benefits outweigh limitations by far.
