Project Proposal
Objectives
According to Nokes & Kelly (2007), before undertaking any project, one should ask himself / herself three key questions:-
1. Who has an interest in the project?
2. Why undertake the project, i.e. how is the project expected to add value to the organisation? and;
3. How will others judge whether the project is a success?
If these questions are answered, then the project is bound to be a success.
One objective of this project would be to provide ample and safe parking space for the surrounding business premises. There are a lot of buildings in that area and thus the project will be a good step for the fund. They will help and in turn make money out of it.
Strengthening the organisations public image to the society is another objective. The community surrounding will be impressed by the step the organisation is taking. This will enhance their public image. As a result of a good public image, the organizations memberships may increase thus building its capacity.
Finally, the organisation would be able to form stronger ties with the government. Implementation of the project would be a great advantage for the government since it would reduce congestion in some areas due to a high number of vehicles. Thus if the organisation wanted something from the government, they would have a high chance of getting the help.
Outcomes
“It should always be possible to show how a project supports the strategic goals of the sponsor’s organisation; otherwise it consumes resources but fails to add value,” (Roberts & Gardiner, 1998). A project should therefore yield results after its completion to avoid losses to the organisation.
This project will bring about additional income to the Trustees of the Monaco Superannuation Fund. This will help in the running of the daily activities of the fund. It will also bring about growth since the money from the parking lot will be used for further development. After the completion, the organisation may be performing evaluations of the project to ensure that it is performing well and fulfilling the intended objectives.
The project will also expand the value of 595 Anzac Highway Glenelg North. This is possible because money from the lot may be used for development of the area through social responsibility. It will also provide employment for the people of the area thus giving back to the community.
Serving as learning opportunity for the team members will be another outcome. The fund saw an opportunity and they took it. This will serve as an experience to the team and when faced with a worthwhile and profitable opportunity they will take it. Also they will get to know and understand the processes involved in the acquisition of land. They will acquire negotiation skills and get to know all the formalities necessary for such a task.
The organisation will have met its goals given these outcomes and all its efforts will be repaid. Whenever an organisation takes up a project, proper research should be done to ensure that its involvement will be rewarding. Risk assessment should be done and communication should be encouraged in the project team.
