Since mid 19th century, the world has been a place of continuous industrial activities. With the introduction of smart phones, cell phones act as communication equipment and multimedia of smart mobile terminal. Smart phones entail wide range of features and computing power unlike the widely used conventional phone handsets. The smart phone industry comprises of Symbian, Windows Phone 7, IOS, Android and Blackberry OS (Cronin, 2010). Incompatibility is the main challenge facing the phones. The phones have an advantage of becoming rich in the future because they can install third party software just like PCs.

Smart phones provide novel means of distributing news and interacting with people (Cronin, 2010). As a result, many people are now depending on the industry. However, failure to resolve the challenges that affect the mobile transformation leads to the slowdown of the industry. Consumption within the industry is multifaceted. This is because it entails varying possibilities that the industry can offer to its customers. On the contrary, people perceive industry consumption in the form of the battery power based on multiple activities undertaken using the phone technology (Vos De et al, 2011). Consequently, this identifies potentially unexploited opportunities in order to utilize a wide range of technologies within mobile news, websites and applications. This gets rid of monopoly incidences within the industry caused by the incompatibility of the smart phone features. The next move highlights the lifespan of battery usage within these technologies and offers some solutions.

 

Geo-location and location based content

Today, journalism heavily relies on concepts such as Geo-location and location-based content. Currently, most users have a perception that location based services on Smartphone are limited to content consumption. This is not the case since users can create their personal geotagged content. Consequently, this raises privacy concerns among users who highly rely on social networks like twitter, Skype and face book (Torun, 2011). Although, the government passed privacy measure outlined under the Electronic Communication Privacy Act in 1986, it is imperative to update such measures in order to accommodate location-based services.

Location based technologies such as augmented reality and indoor mapping continue to widen the sphere of possibilities. They present many opportunities, which remain unexploited by journalists. Such opportunities include data visualisation, interactive narratives, eyewitness news, and new means to discovering substance based on setting.

Smart phones can facilitate a reader engagement that exceeds fiscal contribution. This implies that the mobile web provides opportunities to move civic participants out of offices and homes, into a society’s environment (Zheng, 2006). The mobile news application could use the civic involvement prospective of applications to link readers to domestic volunteers. Similarly, it encourages the expression of a reader’s point of view regarding the discussed subject to relevant readers. Charger Power Consumption as a Smart Phone Mishap

Smart phone technology offers a wide range of comfort aspects such as the mini shape, smooth network, HD display, and strong cloud support among other features (Vos De et al, 2011).Many activities improving the battery life include the improvements of the processor and operating system power saving technology. This features experience persistence problems of saving power at a minimal extent. The current technology consists of smart phone manufacturers who make phones that meet high-function display requirements and mobile phone charger. Sometimes, there are factors, which need description by the user, but it does not seem to work out.

To reduce the consumption of power by smart phones, it is imperative that the government makes dissimilar moves by implementing the use of LTE coverage expansion as well as the 4G mobile phone fragment enhancement. Consequently, this will lead to a new network forms that may no longer result into massive power consumption. With this change, the charger problem will still exist. According to the findings from the JD Power evaluation, the charger life is too short for people to tolerate (Lomborg, 2001). This implies that in case there is an existing mobile phone manufacturer or, entrepreneur who can solve the problem, the individual or firm can highly benefit. This will be the case because the issue concerning the charger is the biggest hurdle in the manufacture of smart phones.

Recommendations to solve the problem would include a shift to the backup power bank sources. In addition to that, there should be integration of mobile power applications while manufacturing the smart phones. Furthermore, the mobile power supply would limit low battery life problems. The users of smart phones will have to carry mobile power supplies, which are portable. Achievement of this device will enable people to travel anytime to anywhere with a wide range of digital products that require charging (Vos De et al, 2011). Subsequently, it will improve peoples’ lives by making work and travel easier as well as carefree.

Conclusion

Mobile technology provides a variety of applications in human life that making it easier. However, a number of applications within the smart phone industry remain unexploited. Because of much its importance, many people depend heavily on the mobile technology even though it is taking long to solve dissimilar challenges within this industry. The paper highlighted some of the unexploited applications of the smart phone industry within the journalism sector. Additionally, it proposed a move by the government to implement integration of applications such as the geo-location and location-based content in journalism and civic engagement. The final section took a different perspective of consumption in the smart phone industry. It focused on the problem of power chargers. Ultimately, it concluded by offering a solution to the issue, which included the use of mobile power supply.
