Purpose and Overview
The purpose of this assignment is for students to address complex health care issues that may or may not have a policy solution.
Directions
•The Mason textbook states that “….although numerous court cases have irrefutably established a patient’s right to refuse medical treatment, few have dealt with a patient’s right (if there is one) to undergo medical treatment when all medical authorities agree that the treatment is useless….” (Mason, Leavitt, & Chaffee, 2011, p. 86).
•With regard to that statement do the following. •Write a position paper, in APA format, which addresses the question “How much can any citizen or family demand from society?” •Provide evidence from a minimum of four references to support your position.
•Provide a concise and thoughtful response to the question which considers, at a minimum, the following elements. •Stakeholders
•Government’s role and legislative substantiation.
•Outcomes, both negative and positive.
•Economic implications.
•Quality of life issues.
•Benefits to society.
