The traditional software develops in projects managed in many ways including physical engineering. The long planning stage has no code produced but several plans develop in the process. This is followed by intense implementation phase whereby the plans outlined result to a perfect final product (So 2011). This methodology is convenient in the construction of physical artifacts for example a bridge, whereby the inflexible materials such as steel and concrete portrays that once the process of constructions has commenced, there is limitation in the opportunities of change. Agile methodology focuses on the facts contained in software made of more flexible materials than the physical construction in the mitigation of the primary problems with traditional software engineering. This means that the client is entitled on the assurances of how the completed products are conducted until halfway through to the implementation phase.

Agile research method contains principles recognized through the software projects, which are subjects to persistent change. This is evident in both the basis of the client’s expectations and the existing facts of the technology. This develops in a way that the traditional software project properties do not allow the implication of diverse management techniques. This means that according to agile methodology half-constructed structures are referred to as non-functional. A half-constructed piece of software can be both functional and usable, with a list of the expected functions (So 2011). This allows the agile method to issue the clients with progressive delivery, making the software to retain their regular intervals. There are factors that are evident in the procedure of Agile Research method, they include;

  • A client knows how a project will proceed from the beginning. This portrays the conception of the type of software that is applicable for the mid-stream with response to the interim delivery, a factor that enables the customer to change their conception if there is a need. Continuous delivery occurs as a process that requires a continuous flow of the refined products.
  • The client has the ability to provide progressive modification when positive information concerning the projects process develops, without paying attention to the existing technology and other necessities. Transparency is an important aspect that allows high levels of communication with the clients as they are informed of the procedure of a certain project from the commencing period to the end.
  • The larger teams are expected to be broken down to smaller organs. This enables the teams to have the opportunity to learn self-management skills as the executives in charge give them the learning opportunities.

Where Agile Research process is most suitable

Agile research process is suitable in various projects but there are specific situations in which they function effectively (So 2011).

  • The projects that have various degree of uncertainty around their functional requirements or the technology utilized
  • The developing projects that are not too big or medium
  • The projects with buy-in from the team members, business stakeholders and the available management
  • The projects which utilize modern language and tools
