Critique Data Analysis

  1. Describe several challenges you see to engaging your colleagues or students in critiquing the data analysis section of a report.

Critiquing of data in a report is a systematic process that highlights the advantages and the disadvantages so as to know the credibility or applicability. In the process of critiquing a data analysis section of a report, there are a number of challenges that arise. First of all certain groups may have negative attributes to them and hence offer negative comments about them. Certain students lack set guidelines as to the manner a critique ought to happen, the level of criticism issues for the data analysis, and the level of positive and negative response (Burns and Grove, 1997). The absence of these guidelines lead to processes that of less help.

With the lack of guidelines absent, an individual may issue a great amount of data and expect critique to be done on it. This is time consuming and takes away the time for other issues. Moreover, the writers of the data analysis are not open to negative feedback; they set their sights on positive comments about their work (Ryan-Wenger, 1992). Genuine and in-depth criticism is what will make the data analysis of the report strong.

  1. What strategies could you use to help them understand the importance of nurses reading research articles including the data analysis and results sections?

There are some strategies that nurses may employ so as to help them get to know the relevance of nurses reading their research. First of all there is need to accept criticism taking to fact that it is not personal, it is based on the writing and not the author, this can be achieved by letting the writers critique other people’s work (Bassett and B.issett, 2003). This is useful as it will give them the chance be on the other end of the table. The process of critiquing a data analysis section and the results helps the report to become better. This is made possible if the composition of the critique group being chosen is from competent students. Additionally, the data analysis and report section of the report ought to be on a specific word limit level. This will make it possible for the other students to return it in the correct amount of time (Miles and Huberman, 1994). Critique of data analysis is a process that aims to improve and not to bring down any work. Accepting and applying the suggestions allocated by the writers only serves for the best outcome.
