What do you think made the bedding project so successful?
The project was successful in the sense that it brought along specific procedures that kept the lines of communication open in the varied departments and levels being used in the project. The team in the project was able to put in place varied management techniques, with the most significant being communication (Institute). Communication was made possible through meetings, emails and memos among others to initiate a connection with audience being impacted by the program. Another element of success was the rigid record keeping and documentation which ensured proper organization.
The dependencies of the project and milestones were reliant on time which was relied upon by the varied levels and procedures. To sort out the challenge of variation in product sizing among others, Marriot posed queries and acquired solutions which played a vital role for the Procurement team. Marriot also created a distribution company that acquired, repacked and delivered most of the bedding properties. This made it possible to acquire complete orders hence reduced the storage complexities.
What areas of PM did you think were the most difficult?
The most difficult issues laid in the variation of the bedding specifications. The mattresses were or contrasting heights. This forced the company to order special linens for the advanced mattresses. For the box springs, precise measurements had to be taken so as to buy bed skirts of relevant length. The team was forced to do extra work with people of varied time zones, languages and culture and institutions to acquire a proper result. This hence resulted to an effective and efficient communication and harmonization a major challenge. The company desired that the products to be in line with the desired standards for satisfaction of the clients.
