Communist Party and Dynastic History

Write an essay taking a stand on the following issue:

Did the Chinese Communist Party’s rise to power and the nature of their rule under Mao mark a significant break with traditional dynastic form of government, or is it more like just another new dynasty? Provide evidence to support your position. Consider similarities and differences between the Communists and previous dynasties. How did they come to power? How is the succession of rulers decided? On what basis do they claim legitimacy? What is the relationship between the government and the people? What are their mutual expectations? Who ultimately holds power within the government, and what are the limits and extent of their power?
