chosen topic. The name of the company should replace the expression {example} in the headline. The
example should be current in that that the first press report about the case in question should not be
more than one year old, calculated from the submission deadline.

The description of the case should not account for more than 500 words.
In terms of content, the report should integrate critically and evaluatively current socio-political debates
concerning the role of business ethics in relation to corporate governance; the restrictions on and
benefits for companies deriving from the corporate governance environment; and potential measures to
improve corporate governance structures/regulations.

Students will be expected to use a range of sources including books, journals, industry materials, and 3
appropriate internet sites. Students are required to attach their sources specifically about the
chosen case in full length as an appendix.

On successful completion of this module at threshold level, the students will be able to:

 explain the theoretical foundations of corporate governance based on the theory of the firm
 illustrate and critically discuss the development of the corporate governance paradigm and its
relationship to business ethics

 assess the corporate governance environment of companies, including the role of stakeholders, and
critically evaluate its benefits for and restrictions on companies
 critique corporate governance structures and discuss how they could be improved based on
theoretical insights and practical examples

and assess a range of options, and propose a reasoned solution, drawing on relevant current
