The purpose of this assignment is to relate nursing leadership and management concepts to current clinical nursing practice.
This assignment has two components.
1. Each student will critically review the position description of a nurse manager or other nurse in a leadership position in
a health care agency in which you have had a clinical learning experience.
a. What are the educational and credential requirements of this position? Are they significant?
b. Describe the role and responsibilities of this position. How does it fit into the structure of the nursing division and
the organization? Is it congruent with the mission of the agency?

Your paper must be referenced. Your analysis must be supported by a review of relevant nursing and leadership literature. You
may use you textbook as a source but you must also cite current literature. At least 70% of the references must come from a
peer reviewed source. Wikipedia will not be accepted as a reference source.
You may also interview the nurse leader in this clinical setting.
The length of the paper must be between 8 and 10 pages. This does not include the title and reference pages. It is not
necessary to include an Abstract page for this assignment. The paper is typed double- spaced using 12 pt. Times New Roman
with 1-inch margins on all sides.
