In the movie Hitch, an interpersonal conflict exists between two people as a result of communication. Communication forms the principal aspect in any specified relationship whether intimate or platonic. In the movie, the interpersonal conflict due to miscommunication is between the main characters Sara and Hitch following a fight that ensued. The fight could have been avoided had they engaged communication as the best solution. It takes them a longer period to finally have a communication and talk out things to solve the issue (Mordaunt et al, 2005).
The interpersonal conflict between Sara and Hitch results after a having a relationship that results to a revelation of Hitch as the date doctor. They engage the aspect of self-disclosing information to each other with Hitch leaving the significant and pertinent information that should be shared in their intimate relationship. Sara finds out realizing that he is the reason behind her friend getting dumped. After the revelation, Sara goes out on a date with Hitch and ends up telling him of his whereabouts and what he does failing to give him enough time to explain things (Mordaunt et al, 2005). Hitch engages in a speed-dating thing involving the exchange of words but ends up not getting things worked out as planned. Sara later goes to Hitch to apologize but gets the negative aspect of Hitch when she is blown off. They later work out things in their next meeting following the decision to discuss the way forward about the situation (Mordaunt et al, 2005).
Hitch could have found it significant explaining to her all the relevant information about his job and the incident with Sara’s friend. Sarah finding out about the incident earlier through communication with Hitch, they could have managed to work things out sooner. Hitch explaining to Sarah little concerning his job earlier could have helped Sarah prepare for the relationship. In the incident at the house, Sarah could have stayed and listened to Hitch communicate concerning the situation. Upon engaging in a relationship, effective communication is significant to avoid interpersonal relationship.
