Engineering Designs

Your engineering manger has just assigned you a particularly challenging design problem. What types of feasibility studies will you suggest conducting before proceeding with the design? Describe the intent and purpose of each of those studies.
With issues concerning disposal of waste within the company, it is important that a feasibility study on environmental implications be conducted. On the same matter, lack of appropriate disposal design for the organization poses a number of ethical concerns. For this matter, there is also need for ethical feasibility study. The intent for conducting an environmental feasibility study is for the understanding of the potential environmental impacts of the organizations design. It will also help in creating a better understanding of the cost of remedial options, remedy effectiveness and constructability. Another substantial requirement is the understanding of the ethical implications the current design has on the image of the organization. Through the feasibility study on ethical issues, the organization will have a chance for understanding the cost of the implications and the advantage of the preferred design alternative. The organization realizes that there are complex issues contributed by improper disposal designs on chemical, biological and physical composition of the environment. These issues cause ethical concerns in the operations of the company in the end.
Through feasibility studies of the company waste disposal design currently in use, there will be need for understanding of other sources of contamination of local water bodies other than the company wastes. These were such as storm waters and wastes from the neighborhood. The feasibility study will help in determining minimal cost disposal alternatives, simplest designs, identification of new technology disposal techniques, a method with desired tolerances and access to trade-offs between alternative methods. The major importance of the environmental and ethical feasibility studies will be for the guidance of the process of making decisions by the company. The evaluation of the real world situation of the company operation will give a clear picture of what the situation is like and the associated costs. This gives the feasibility studies a chance for helping the engineers of the organization to develop a disposal design that would not cost the organization ethical positioning because of cases of environmental inconsideration.
2. You are responsible for the design of handheld electric drill. Where are the primary sources of product specifications discussed in class (Functionality, Physical constraints, characteristic and cost)? Provide some example specifications. Also, provide example parameters for your design, how are the parameters related to the specifications?\
The hand held eclectic drill function entails inserting and removing matter through a rotating edge. The drills in this case differ in speeds and the number of feeds a main dedicated mechanism .the drill has grounded mechanisms that reduces the potential emerging hazards. The devices circuit breakers which offer protection must be ideally fixed and concordant to the resulting current.
The design would entail a water proof insulated handle that will hinder circuit malfunctions and also prevent electric shock in case of close contact with either water. The drilling age will have a pinpointed spiral shaped curve that will allow deep incision and faster feeds. To prevent unrequited start ups from power failures, a magnetic switch would be the best solution. All this are in line with the device specifications.
