Dashboard Analysis and Nursing Plan
Overview
Clinical and administrative indicators are crucial in the determination of the level of performance in the nursing sector. Positive indicators illustrate essence of improvement while negative indicators are expressions of inadequacies and inefficiencies in the nursing system. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the positive and negative clinical and administrative indicators with the aim of developing a nursing plan to enable the system eliminate the challenges and hindrances to growth and development in the health system.
Analysis of the Data
The data illustrates improvements in relation to reduction of the number of patients with acquired ulcers. This is development towards elimination of the problem because of developments and improvements in the nursing sector (Renzi 2012). The nursing system also has the ability to enhance its p[performances following developments in relation to meeting the target for patients who were assessed for the essence of ulcers with the time-frame of 24 hours. The assessments relates to the point-prevalence evaluation. The nursing system shows improvement through achieving the target. Nursing system is also within range of the target number of nursing hours with reference to patient day. This is crucial in the illustration of efficiency within the system of nursing (Renzi 2012). Despite being close to the target, it is still crucial to address issues relating to the nursing hours against the patient days within the system. This relates to unique displays of this sector under within the NDNQI data on the dashboard. The rests of the departments in this category reflect positive indicators of clinical and administrative aspects thus area of improvement or development. There have been lags in the total falls per 1000 patients within the sector of nursing (Renzi 2012). This reflects on the need to adjust and improve with the aim of enhancing the conditions of healthcare for the individuals within the society. Under the nurse-sensitive patient satisfaction survey indicators, it is evident that promptness and response to pain by nurse is still some ways to go before achieving its goals and objectives. This indicates the need to improve and enhance the promptness and response to pain with the aim relieving patients of the pain when seeking medical attention. This crucial area requires improvement since nursing process should aim at delivering in relation to the needs and preferences of the patients (Renzi 2012).
Nursing Plan
In order to improve on the issues of the indicator (promptness and poor response to pain, it is crucial fort the system to adopt and implement any of the following plan. One of the main reforms that need to take place in the healthcare system in relation to nursing is the transformation of the calling systems (Freshwater, 2002). It is crucial for the organizations to adopt effective and efficient calling systems that operate on 24-hour basis. There should be individuals at the other end of the line incase patients call with emergency cases. This would improve the services and reaction to the calls by the nurses thus the improvement in the sector or indicator relating to clinical or administrative aspects. There should also be hotlines for patients to contact nurses though text messages (Freshwater, 2002).
It is also crucial for organizations for healthcare systems to free nurses in order to handle emergency cases through technical and professional training. This would crucial to increase the level of attendance to the patients though offering adequate assistance to the doctors. It is vital for the organization to tram nurses on the need to act promptly in relation to the demands and needs of the patient seeking medical assistance. This awareness would professionalism of the nurses in executing their roles responsibilities (Green et al 2012).
It is also crucial for organization to be strict in the implementation of their rules and guidelines directing actions of the nurses in dealing with patients in the process of offering needed medical assistance. It is evident in most hat nurses are reluctant to exercise their roles and responsibilities because of lack of strictness from the management. It would be vital for the organization to tighten its rules and regulations thus ensuring the nurses execute their roles with efficiency and professionalism (Dreher, 2011).
Summary
Clinical and administrative indicators are illustrations or reflection of efficiency or inefficiency in the healthcare system. The data provided illustrates inefficiencies in the response to pain by nurses and lack or promptness to emergencies (Green et al 2012). In order to enhance the performance of this indicator within the healthcare system in relation to nursing, it is ideal to provide accurate and reliable interaction systems. The organization should ensure that the calling systems are in good shape in order to facilitate interaction between patients and nurses. It is also vital to offer training to the nurses with the aim enhancing their performance during emergencies. Nurses should also follow strict rules for the execution of their roles and duties with the aim of promoting welfare through quality services to the patients (Green et al 2012).
