Before I die I want to… is a film produced by Candy Chang who would want to trigger people into analyzing their wishes and hopes. The artist, Candy Chang talks about the issue of death while she trying to encourage people to operate their daily chores without considering the notion about death. She considers that death of may be the greatest blow that an individual may exhibit since it terminate all the work that an individual has started. She drives her point home by considering her mum who had died and thereby leaving most of her dreams unachieved since the death was sudden and unexpected. Through the speech, Candy Chang wants to inform people that there is a need to accomplish every started project in life since an individual may not know when death will come upon them. Consequently, the speech encourages people to put efforts in every activity they are doing.
The way Candy expresses the death of her mother invokes the feeling that death is usually a immense blow to every individual in society. She says that even though her mother was the person she valued most besides acting as her role model, the death makes her look for ways of living independently. This triggers her to make use of stickers and chalks in order to access the living conditions of the neighborhood. For instance, people found it fascinating filling the blank space provided by Candy’s art, not realizing that the latter had reason for constructing the art. Candy wanted people to realize their roles in lives while the participants may have thought it as a form of entertainment thereby attracting more people. The art has challenged me to consider the reasoning that death should not be a threat but should act as a steppingstone to clarifying my roles in life. The art encourages me to think always of my death in order to empower my inspiration in life.
The approach used by Candy is applicable to almost all the problem that is facing the world. An individual can use this approach (of filling a blank space) in order to trigger people into helping the unfortunate in the community. In this context, the blanks space would containg the notion about the poor in the society. The art will make people refer to the poor in the society thereby looking for ways in which they can deliver the former.
