Why I would make a good project manager
In a musical concert, the role of a conductor is significant. This is because music played is accomplishable through different forms of musical instruments with every participant having different styles of performance and levels, as well. Conductors need to arrange everyone in a harmonious manner, afterwards, come up with the various musical kinds. An accomplished project manager resembles an outstanding conductor as he or she commands every person in all the organizational departments. The manager transforms the group from unfamiliar persons to a unit that is cohesive. Understanding such factors as the budget, time, resource, team organization, and time among many others are prerequisites of a good manager. Understanding such factors result in project managers of exceptional quality and capability.
Even though, I am devoid of any working experience, in the past during my time as a student, I took part in the organization of numerous activities. The outstanding one was my organization of a clothing decorum and culture competition. This I did in my capacity as the in charge of the public relation department. The activity compares similarly to the project manager tasks. There was minimal time spending on the organizational work as it took a record one month to get everything ready. Some of the activities undertaken include project planning, control, guidance, and organizational activities.
I have the required prerequisites for the project manager position as foremost I believe in the satisfaction of the clients. Reflecting on my organizational performance, there was satisfaction granting to the audiences who in attendance. Prior to the commencement of the project, a research work carried out on the preferences of the students such as whether they perceived highly the clothing decorum, and culture aspect in their lives revealed their fascination on them. Additionally, it covered the competition formalities of interest to students. The project plan book written was inclusive of all the bits that would make the project a success. Elements such as the emergency control, schedule, and budget among other details allowed for the tracking of the complex elements of the project.
After approval from the institution, setting up a team was necessary for the handling of the organizational work. Bringing on board of members of other departments was to finish the impending activities on time. The members of the Propaganda department assisted with the publicity work whereas the logistics department handled the procurement functions. Holding of frequent status meetings was useful for keeping up to date with the teams. The provision of a pleasant working surrounding allowed for proper facilitation of internal communications. The members opened up more freely and shared their perceptions and concepts effectively.
All these undertakings were useful for the acquisition and winning of the sponsor’s trust. This was after the overrunning the initial budget and the school management failing to provide support for the accomplishment of the remaining bit of work. Bringing on board sponsors is no uphill task. However, keeping cool during the stressful period and motivating ourselves to seek opportunities from challenges bore fruits in the end when sponsors came through and granted us the needed support. Such experiences have molded me in becoming an effective leader who can handle pressure with ease and maintain focus on the objectives of the organization. The organizational success of the competition is a first in many more to come in the future, and I believe granted an opportunity, I shall prove my worth in the management position.
