Telmore is among the most successful Europe’s mobile essential networks providers. A Danish Serial Enterpreneur launched the service back in 2000. The entrepreneur came into fame by publicly accusing the current TDC for inappropriately overcharging its clients. This was ironical in that the year 2004, the TDC bought Telmore for an estimated $73 million. Currently, the mobile service runs alongside its original mobile business. By 2003, Telmore had become a force as a MVNO thus the (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) globally. Since the inception of the Telmore, the service has captured at least 9% of the Denmark market through its transparent, simple and less costly internet services. This has made the service to be a big hit in the mobile industry to its clients.
Competition
Despite the success story of the Telmore, the launch of the Telmore into the market was not easy. The Danish industry was already full by the time Telmore was launching. Denmark mobile market is understood to be one of the toughest globally. There are about five mobile operators in the Danish mobile market with each of the mobile operator having their own networks. This makes the market competitive in fighting over the 5.5 million Danes. This was one of the biggest challenge and problem faced by the Telmore Company. The launch of Telmore in the competitive market meant that the Company would have low average subscribers of the service. Hence, the customer base would make the market insufficient to launch a successful business. Despite all this, the Telmore management was positive about their ability to maintain costs in check and perform well in the small customer base. This forced them to provide considerable discounts over the rest of the services including the TDC. Questions were raised because of the initiatives and solutions taken by the Telmore. In some quarters, it was argued if the price reduction would efficiently attract more customers to the service. Outside the country, the European incumbents, were closely observing the situation concerning the new threat in the Danish mobile market although, their worries were short lived.
Advertising
At the launch of Telmore, the company, experienced problems with advertising in that, it lacked a proper means of efficient advertising campaigns which could rival and give competition to the existing mobile providers. At the launch of the Telmore provider, the company aired a simple advert on the national television, which stressed that the service was less costly and simple to use. The catchphrase of the advert was simply saying switching to Telmore. However, the company solved this by getting a better solution to advertise its product in that, after the launch of the service, the company used guerilla-marketing campaigns to popularize its service. The various means used by the company in the advertisement of the service include; displaying of posters across the country, vigorous campaigns across the country, and using the media as a marketing tool. In one situation, the company parked a scooter in TDC’s CEO parking space with various graphics written all over it. The guerilla stunts were seen to be working in that, the company got plenty of airplay from the Danish television and media houses. This turned out to be a positive move by the Telemore Company because more people were able to take note of the new Telmore Company hence subscribing to their services.
The question is, how well are the advertising methods applied by the Telmore Company effective in the market. Will they work well all over the country?
Methods of Analysis
Before the launch of the company, the company was engaged in various analyses in the field to ensure a proper launch. The mode of analysis is survey. Surveying the Danish, market will help to know the people’s needs and the favorite networks in the company. This helps in knowing what strategies to take before the launch of the Telmore Company.
Conclusion
In any business venture, the start is usually a challenging task but with time, the company comes to adapt to the challenging aspects and eventually comes good out of it. The Telmore had its challenges but managed to come out good from its huddles. The main issue would be the reception from the clients and their response to the new service. A company come do enough advertisements but that might not affect the number of customers it woes. For Telmore to ensure everything falls in place, the company must do proper groundwork on the implementation of the mobile network and its competitors.
