2) Give some background (history) for the emergence of this group’s mission. For example: if your organization is setting up hospitals/clinics in rural communities, give us some background on why the state has been unable to provide these basic services to its citizens.
3) Evaluate the success and/or challenges/obstacles that this group faces. Hint: use the organization’s own statistics or evaluations, but don’t rely on them exclusively.

You will be graded on the following:
1) Sources: a) should demonstrate some thematic/academic research (on changing medical practices in Africa for the above, for example); b) primary sources relating to the organization, including but exclusive to the organization’s website; c) contact with organization’s representative and/or expert in a related field to give some perspective on your unanswered questions. You will hand in a written bibliography.
2) In-class presentation — generally should proceed like a good essay: a) attention grabber, demonstration of importance; b) thesis statement or angle; c) clear plan of development; d) presentation of relevant evidence; e) big picture questions or broader considerations for class discussion. Multimedia tools or class handouts are encouraged but should not stand in for your own thoughts.
3) Written summary: 1-2 page summary of your project to hand in.
4) Individual 1-2 paragraphs emailed to me separately, indicating your personal contributions to the project: what drew you personally into the project? what was a key piece of evidence for you that helped shaped your engagement with the subject?
