Hello you have done half of work and I would like to complet the workIm form Saudi arabia midwife in my clinical are in my country practice active mangment stage of ;abour there many reason because our system very medicalized and we are follw amirican system so will attached some work from student you can follo in search strategy and you can understand the EBP in Saudi Arabia
And I want to know is it safe or no .
as you know im abstatirc nurse in Saudi Arabia and im studying the midwifery course in uk
the module is evidence base practice and and firstly I want to you write an introduction and include by the process
of evidence based practice
and you have to wirte in ditaile the search strategy I will attaché the temple to follow it
-you have to support by published work for example mesh
for example
The medical subject heading (MeSH) was employed to refine the searches that
were made in these databases, especially to utilise the controlled vocabulary thesaurus
within these servers (NLM, 2013).
The Boolean ‘and’ or ‘or’ operators were
employed within the same refinements. While these tools helped to locate precise
information the results tended to have a lower sensitivity in comparison to word
searches (Jenuwine and Floyd, 2004).
you have to use many date base
Plan:
Topic : management of third stage of labour
Search question : physiological Management of third stage labuor is it safer for women at low risk of PPH
I have accesses the data base for example
MIDLIN:
Serach strategy :
Concepts
1-labour –third stage
2-physiological Managmet
3-safety
I have use PICO: in Midline datae base
Synonyms or
And P; third stage labour =delivery of placenta
I: physiological Management =normal birth ,expectant
C: active management – synotocinon , CCT
O= safe
I have use mech heading =MESH
When I use this strategy I have found (9 articles )
I have
Assessment template
1) The module is Evidence Based Practice and involves demonstrating all the skills which comprise the evidence based process – searching (30%), appraising (40%),
2) The assignment is in two parts – written (70%) and oral (30%), there are no options and you must pass BOTH parts.
2) The first two parts of the evidence based process are assessed in the written assessment (searching and appraising).
3) The oral component assesses implementation of evidence into practice.
4) The written part is to conduct a systematic search on a topic of your choice and select ONE paper from your results and critically appraise it. 3000 words (excluding references and appendices) – and now it is electronic submission, the word count matters.
Written – Part One
The first section of your assignment should provide a brief background and rationale for the selection of this topic area, you should also describe the context (perhaps where you work and why this issue is appropriate). You should also describe your search question.
You need to conduct a systematic and comprehensive search (imagine you are going to do a systematic review and the type of search you would need for this – and how you would document it).
Your description of the process should include any modifications of your search question (perhaps based on initial search results or discussions with your tutor) (was it too broad and you needed to make it more specific – if so how did you do it?). You should describe the resources you searched and why you selected them and what search terms you used and how you used them. You can also give an overview of your results – what types of things you found and how many you found on each database.
You also need to include, as an appendix, your search strategies FOR EACH resource that you used. Please remember we only want to see the actual strategy (search terms) not all the titles and abstracts that you found. This is so that we can assess whether you actually have the practical search skills to conduct the search that you have described above rather than finding relevant articles by chance!
You also need to critically analyse your approach – for example what worked and what didn’t, what was the best resource or did they all produce similar results? Was this what you were expecting? what could you have done better, what have you learned about doing a search. This is a little artificial but it will demonstrate that you actually understand the search process and what results you have obtained and why (and what you may have missed).
Written part two
From your search results – select ONE primary research paper. This should be a paper which answers your question and you are confident in the methods that you are appraising. For example if you lack confidence in statistics – do not choose a paper which contains lots of statistics that you cannot understand or critique.
You should critically analyse this paper within the context of your current political and healthcare environment.
Begin by providing a brief overview of the paper and why you selected this particular one. You could then use one of the critical appraisal tools to structure to content of this section – but it needs to read as a narrative. Make sure that when you make a point you back this up with appropriate references. For example if you are talking about the need for ethical approval you should back this up with a reference from the research literature.
Include this paper as an appendix – this is so we can check that you have understood the methods that you describe and critique within the paper.
5) As you know, the taught sessions are planned to take you through the EBP process in the right order – the same order in which you should write the assignment.
6) I would have MAIN HEADINGS and Sub-Headings to help with the structure.
7) No need for an abstract. You must include the search strategies and the paper you appraise as appendices.
8) It is up to you, but this is a rough guide to how I would structure it.
INTRODUCTION 500 words?
What is EBP and why it matters
What the topic is (and perhaps what it isn’t)
Why it matters. Perhaps why it matters now.
The policy context – current government/DH/DfE agendas.
Briefly – What your engagement is with the topic.
What is your focussed question
SEARCH PROCESS
Maybe 1000 words – no more!
Search Strategy
Which databases and other resources you used and why these.
The search terms used. (Boolean operators?, mesh headings etc)
Inclusion / exclusion criteria (eg: last 10 years. Only research reports. Only children/adults/aliens)
Outcomes of the search – number of articles found / relevant.
Need to refocus question
Critical analysis of search – what worked, what didn’t and why – implications of this on your results
CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF PAPER
What paper have you selected – why this one.
Brief overview of paper
Critical appraisal of the paper – methods, context etc, use a tool such as casp as a framework (the headings and prompts will help you)
Remember to back up your points with references from the literature
It will be useful to end with a summary about the paper, its quality and what this means for practice (briefly).
REFERENCES
No need for a bibliography – just the references that you have used in the text. The University referencing guidelines should be followed.
Appendices
Search strategy for each database
Copy of paper
