The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with the opportunity to reflect on what learning took place on your trip, and how the experience has impacted you. We want to hear your thoughtful insight on two main things: what you learned about the specific activity you engaged in and how the experience impacted you. This assignment is required in order to acquire credit and a grade through the Parks and Recreation Department. Please read and adhere
Part I. Activity Specific Questions (minimum two pages total, but answer each separately)
1. Take a moment to differentiate between outdoor survival and primitive skills. Is one more important than the
other?
2. Do you think mainstream media portrays outdoor survival accurately? Why or why not?
3. How has this class changed or influenced your previous thoughts about Outdoor Survival? What will you do
differently as a result of this class?
Part II. Experience Impact (minimum one page)
This section is your opportunity to consider how this trip fits into your life. The following are some helpful considerations, but please don’t limit yourself to these.
Did this trip challenge your values or beliefs about yourself, others, or the environment?
If someone asked you what the highlight of the trip was, what would you tell them? Why?
Is there something you learned on the trip that you would like to share with others?
Were there challenges for you or anybody else during your trip? If so, what was your reaction or thoughts? How
would you handle it differently, why or why not?
Do you feel you’ve gained any lasting insight from the experience?
