lake Ngaroto resort

To examine a set of diagrams relating to the development of a resort and to

a) Create a short video clip (for use on a .wmv format usable on a Windows operating system). Such a video can be used for seeking funds from investors; and

b) To write a document indicating plans for the resort complete with a rationale for the resort design.

The scenario is:

The town of Te Awamutu is abuzz. An overseas developer has purchased the land around Lake Ngaroto and has approached a top resort designer, namely you, to develop a resort that will, it is hoped attract high spending tourists to this part of the Waikato.

The design project requires you to develop a boutique resort. Each chalet, unit or room is expected to come with views of the lake. The remit requires you to design car parking, a reception area that includes restaurant, gymnasium and a water sports centre. However part of the lake must provide a resource for water fowl. The motive for the Council permitting this development to occur is to remove from it the problems of restring water quality, and the property development company is expected to address these issues.

The video

If you look at Youtube.com many videos are about 1 minute 30 seconds in length. It is about this length that I am expecting. If taking a video is beyond you then I will accept a PPT file with a voice over. If you do not know how to record a voice track to a PPT file – just google it – it is easy to do.

The video does not have to be wholly original in the sense that I am not expecting you to drive out to the lake and take shots. It can be a compilation of downloaded video clips that you slice together. This is easily done – I use aTubecatcher and you can easily split up video files with a wmv format – again google it if you do not know how to do this.

With reference to the planning of the resort, a report format is expected for this.

You are required to:

a) Indicate the style of the resort you wish to create;

b) Indicate the type of accommodation you would wish to provide;

c) Indicate the number of accommodation units you would wish to provide;

d) Indicate on the map the location of the differing facilities

e) Provide a rationale for you decisions with reference to the practicalities of the proposal and the envisaged market.
