The essay working with F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby. You will continue to sharpen their understandings of literary interpretation and composition by exploring key elements of the novel discussed in this course, AND by incorporating secondary, scholarly texts in their discussion. The essay must range between 1000 and 1200 words. The essay will be 8 paragraphs, a introduction paragraph–> two body paragraphs–>a baby paragraph (It is a short connecting paragraph between body paragraphs)–>another two paragraphs–>a conclusion paragraph. The introduction paragraph need include a hook, a bridge(author’s names,titles,date of publication and so on) and a thesis statement. The essay has 8 sources, the primary source(the novel itself) and MUST include 3-5 secondary, scholarly sources, PLUS parenthetical citations and a complete Works Cited list that meets the requirements for MLA formatting. Your secondary sources must be scholarly: they must be peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, or other sources. Please consult the instructor if you are unsure about the quality of potential sources. 1 of these sources can be the critical introduction or an appendix item from your edition of The Great Gatsby. Please note that no quotations in introduction and conclusion paragraphs.
