I think there have two aspects to analyze about how ethics is important in business world. I summed up the most three important points: Honesty, Fairness, and Citizenship. We can think about from micro view to the macro view.
For career development prospect, ethical salespeople could create positive value to society as a citizen, build long-term relationship of mutual trust with his/her customer, and maintain a moral working place within organization. So ethical salespeople know to fulfill a right citizenship to make sure he/she is doing legal business. When salespeople success to build relationship with customer, he/she is going to generate profit for organization. A good working environment can avoid a fierce competition between co-works.
For organization future development aspect, an ethical organization could maintain a fair and healthycompetition environment in the industry, so people will more likely trust them. In a way, it can prevent vicious competition within the industry. Better treatment of its employee can make them have faith and energy to work hard and appropriate in the organization. The performance of the organization will more stable and sustainable, If is unethical organization, For example, a few companies setting unrealistically high sales quotas for salespeople, so thatsalespeople will lust for success that they deliberately undercut their co-workers. Company’s internal conflicts will occur.
Thus, ethics not only are important in sales, but also guide the whole society to move forward.
