GENERAL ESSAY GUIDE
You must demonstrate that you have read beyond the textbook by accurately citing at least six journal articles, or book chapters.
You must use The American Psychological Association (APA) style when citing and referencing material. The APA Guidelines are available in the library and on the web. Alternatively you can check the referencing style by referring to an issue or article in one of the numerous psychology journals that use APA style that can be found in the library (e.g., Professional Psychology: Research and Practice; Journal of Abnormal Psychology; Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology).
Essays must be written grammatically; do not use note form or bullet points. All essays must be typed/word processed. Hand-written essays will not be marked. Marks will be deducted for poor grammar and poor essay structure.

Answer both parts of the question below for your essay.
- Provide an overview of eitherAnorexia or Borderline Personality Disorder(Choose ONE disorder only)
(This section is worth 20% of the total grade).
- Select ONE of the major paradigms listed below. Describe the aetiology and treatment of the disorder you have chosen (in section A) from the perspective of that paradigm. In your answer please critically examine the strengths and weaknesses of the paradigm in regards to the aetiology and treatment of the disorder.
- Family systems
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Psychodynamic
(This section is worth 80% of the total grade).
