The topic paper revolves around human rights in Islam and the common misconception that Islam belittles and oppresses its women. Use evidence from prophetic teachings, the Quran, and other scholarly sources to support claims. Essay should inlcude: 1. Introduction – provides an overview of the topic you are going to discuss, a general outline of how you are going to discuss the topic including what points you are going to argue/make and a very brief summary of your expected conclusions. This introduction tells the read everything about what is going to happen in the following paragraphs. Do not pick too many ideas. Focus on fewer ideas, or one, and drill deeper with analysis. 2. Body – the development of each idea you introduce, using evidence from the course readings and discussions. You may also use additional sources. Be sure to cite your courses in either MLA or Chicago style. 3. Conclusion – pull your arugments and ideas together and close with a summation of your key points. Evaluation Criteria Essay should be approximately 750 words, but there is no limit to length. Essay must be submitted at attachment in one of the following extension formats: .doc .docx .rtf 91-100 – Exceeds expectations, meets criteria, develops clear, coherent argument/ideas. Clear focus. Style flows for reader. 81-90 – Meets expectations and exceeds in one or more areas. 71-80 – Meets minimal expectations < 70 – Fails to meet one or more expectations.
