Mary Ainsworth developed a procedure, called the Strange Situation, in which researchers could observe and assess the nature of attachment in relationships between children and their caregivers. Describe one of the three types of patterns that Ainsworth identified and discuss what life circumstances outside a laboratory setting might contribute to the development of this attachment pattern in a child.
