Using terms that you have discussed so far in class and terms that we have used this session, Compare how meaning is created differently in the 2 songs (or argue the opposite – that there is no change in the meaning of the song). Key things to think about as you craft your response:
1. We talked about the writer, the singer(s), and the listener and how meaning is a collaborative effort. What was each person’s role in creation of meaning?
2. Which role (if any) was the most dominate / influential in creating meaning?
3. How did each role go about creating meaning? What techniques were used?
4. Are there any other “outside” influences (age, time, context, etc.)? How did they contribute?
Assignment Format: Your “presentation’ should be done in a Powerpoint or Prezi format. You need to post your assignment to the Session 6 discussion board. Once everyone’s project is posted, the class will vote for their favorite and most convincing argument (voting will take place on the Session 7 discussion board)
