analytic essay

Write a persuasive analytic essay that builds from the analytic work you did completing the Discourse Map to propose an insightful, supportable, and debatable claim about the show AND language, identity, and/or communication. Consider how the show constructs identity[ies] by memory, language, visual presentation, and/or discordance (or accordance) with other characters or discourse communities. Your paper must be purposeful, and have a point to make, and that point should have a larger relevance than textual analysis. You might draw a conclusion about the show argument regarding identity or about audience expectations and influence on identity construction, or about the show  representation of the connections among literacy practices, identity, and stereotyping, and so on. What you should not do is evaluate the show or a character as  good References, comparisons, and connections to other television shows are allowed but the focus must still be on this show.
Format: MLA formatting & style: 1-inch margins, double spaced, standard font (not Courier!), attached works cited list. While I will ask you to submit this essay in hard copy as well as electronically through Blackboard, I encourage you to embed images and/or videos (even sound files!) as needed. Follow MLA guidelines for captions and format for these elements.
