BUSINESS 406: INDIVIDUAL PAPER – DRIVE
APPLYING INTRINSIC AND EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
Write a 1500-2000 word paper applying the concepts and theories you have learned about intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to your personal life, academic life and work place.
The source of your research should be Drive by Daniel Pink and at least 2 other academic resources. Please cite all references in your paper using APA formatting.
In your paper:
• Describe and define autonomy, mastery and purpose.
• Outline specific ways you could apply these three concepts to your academic life to improve results.
• Describe how you might use the three pillars of intrinsic motivation (autonomy, mastery and purpose) to create a high-performance environment for yourself and others in your workplace as a manager and peer.
• Present practical, specific, and effective ways you propose to use total rewards both intrinsic and extrinsic to motivate yourself and those you will someday lead.
• Relate Pink’s conclusions about motivation to at least 2 other motivational theories discussed in chapter 3 of the Long textbook.
• If you do not agree with Pink’s conclusions please address your concerns and offer alternative methods to increase intrinsic motivation.
• Your paper should evidence that you have researched at least 3 sources. You will be graded on the quality and appropriateness of the sources.
