Assessing the effectiveness of homeless services: “Housing Stability”, “Self-Sufficiency”, and “Vulnerability”

How does the concept of “resilience” help our understanding of service outcomes among different homeless sub-populations? The six journal articles below discuss the experience of homelessness among different sub-populations in the context of “resilience”. Read two of the articles on the list and prepare a brief, 250-word, or half page single spaced paper that identifies the “risk” and “vulnerability” factors that you believe to be most influential in determining service outcomes for each population reviewed. Ask, what are the resiliency factors that impact on service outcomes? Are these factors the same for each sub-population or are they somehow different? Are the various environmental or contextual issues surrounding their homelessness the same or different and how do the contribute to the variation of outcomes? What might some of the implications be for future program design or policy initiatives? After submitting your response, provide a comment with feedback to at least two of your classmates.
