Introduction
The period between the 1950 and 1960 has been termed to as having the most important changes in history. This period was impacted by the youngness of the post-war emergence- a period with the desire for change and distant tools. Design in the 50s and 60s were attributed to a innovative new material termed to as plastic which is integrated with electronic miniaturization that made it possible for designers to issue their clients new products and services: liberation.
The 1950 which also known as the information age is tagged with the ability of human being able to pass information in a more easier manner. This led to people being acquiring knowledge. This period saw the electronic computers experience a miniaturization and significant increase of their computer speeds. IBM, a computer giant, made PCs and calculators to contain more power (Breeden). The period saw the invention of Lamps which was made out of carbon and utilized current for it to work. The period also saw the advancement of the TV. Considering the television was invented much earlier it saw the increased number of people watching it increase, hence also known as the information age. In 1952 also the first campaign in the television as well as commercials.
The 50s also saw the invention of the integrated circuit which has enabled computer miniaturization (Bellis). This involved making several electronic devices being put on a single device hence miniaturization being possible and further growth in appliances using these electronic devices.
The end of the 50s and the beginning of the 60s saw the start of the space age with aeronautics and space related activities. The first person landed in space using the rocket, more specifically 1969. In 1960s also saw the invention of the Random Access Memory (also known as RAM) and the computer mouse. These led to advance in the computer industry. RAM enabled storage of information while mouse made computer operation much easier.
