Project Guidelines
Main Paper
Papers should be approximately 1000 words (4 double-spaced pages or so; no more than 5 pages; 12 point font; one inch margins). First, give a brief overview (0.5 to 1.5 pages) of the content and theme of your book. The remainder of your paper should involve explicitly applying theories, ideas, and trends discussed in the course to a few critical themes and issues presented in the book. Explain in your write-up how you are using specific concepts from class. At the bottom of the last page of the main paper, please indicate what proportion of the entire book you read (i.e. 0% to 100%). Primarily, I will be evaluating whether you correctly apply course theories and models and whether the depth of your analysis convinces me you truly understand these principles.
Purpose
The purpose of this individual assignment is to encourage you (1) to develop a deeper understanding of labor unions, workers, and their interactions with corporations and broader society; and (2) to test your understanding of these issues against the knowledge, opinions, and feelings of others.
