Understanding the development of children and the role that all systems within their life, family and community interact is critical to working with parents and families. Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model provides a good framework for understanding the various influences in the life of a child and their family. Students will asked to write a 3-5 page paper describing Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model, briefly reflect on their own ecological development and describe how this model can inform with children, their parents, family as well as community organizations.
