Business management depends on the managerial skills of the manager. He should be able to communicate well with his superiors and subordinates. This helps the manager in corresponding with the head officers in the company through reports. Being a new department, a good communicator will be able to instruct the departments employees regarding what are expected from them (Drucker, 2007). Excellent customer service depends on effective communication and, therefore, the company needs a good communicator who can respect the communication channels within the organization. By exercising proper interpersonal skill, the manager for the new department must be a person who listens to his subordinated and leads them towards the achievement f the company goals and objectives. He should be able to prove a track record of developing viable work and communication plans in strategic manner for the creation of directives for the company (Griffin, & Moorehead, 2012).
He should be able to take control of the department and plan its activities in an organized manner. This position, therefore, requires someone who has worked with people in a coordinated and harmonious manner. A person with a proven record of accomplishment in creation of effective work processes and focus on customer satisfaction are best placed for this position. This helps the manager in development of customer focused sales and operations agenda for the company (Hitt, Ireland & Hoskisson, 2011).
For the sake of the new department, this individual must be a quick runner because there is limited time. He will be required to learn the overall objectives of the company and formulate work principles for his department ensuring that they conform to the mission and vision of the organization. The success of the new department depends on the leadership of its manager and , therefore, he will have to be someone versed with modern ways of doing business. He will be required to maintain quality standards of service provision while at the same time, maintaining world standards through his team (Drucker, 2007).
That means that he has to be a team player to lead his subordinates into the understanding of what is required from them. Through his conceptualization of present world trends and he should maintain good rapport with the workers and ensure their motivation at all times (Hitt, Ireland & Hoskisson, 2011).

1. Why are you leaving your previous job? (The manner of answering this question is to assist the interview process in evaluating his or her communication skills).
2. How much were you paid in your previous job? (to estimate his pay scale and know if he can value the worth of his subordinates)
3. How would you hand subordinates who are not happy about your decisions? (this gives an opportunity of evaluating his managerial skills).
4. How would you handle tough situations presented by company competitors? (Will show the candidates managerial decision making skills).
5. In five years time, where do you see yourself? (This helps in evaluating the candidates’ ambition for staying with the company, as well as evaluating his planning skills as a manager).
6. Why do you prefer working with us? (for evaluating the candidates goals, motivations and ambitions)
7. Why we hire you? (To know what you can do for the company.)
8. What are your strengths and weaknesses? (will help to determine if the candidate has relevant qualities for the managerial position).
