CA Technologies- Bringing the Cloud to Earth

The mainframe works as a core resource for a number of companies around the world. The expenditure had changed from 2% to 25% in the year 2011. The mainframe upholds the complicated ecosystem of software in it varying from the software to the machines to be operated on. Alterations in the hardware and software brought about layers that were more complicated which reinforced the work of the company.

With changes in the IT sector, there have arisen matters concerning the cost of owning hence vital in formulating decisions. The use of servers would be advantageous in offering capacity, dynamicity, dependability and allocation of a company data which alleviate the risk (Iansiti, M. & Herman, K., 2011). Though hiring would be necessary for this. Though being expensive, the mainframe would add capacity with no effect on the resources required to control the environment.

The role CIO will change meaning that it will be business oriented hence meaning that they will have to operate as service managers. The IT engineers were affected too. The graduates of 2000 had no idea of the mainframe skills; there was the fear of lack of talent in the market. The size of mainframes declined considering that with the drop it brings about a heightened net capacity.

Cloud computing on the other hand was based on a flexible pool of resources; it applied a common utility method of applications, basically kept far from owning or using their own software and hardware. The economic function of cloud computing related to the mega scale service sources is enthralling. Its application would bring about a multi-shared equipment of high capacity. Analysts state that one is bound to save 40%. Cloud computing brought about high level of power to a number of organizations. The application of private cloud computing was attributed to being scalable and dynamic when desired it had something more to virtualization. Cloud computing considering that it has some negative issues like security and cost, it is more desired for application in companies.
