Introduction
Child and Adolescent Development is a system of behavior change that includes the views of concepts with a development in behaviors. It compiles unique perspectives from different systems of approach to bring new developments, which are influenced by both personal and environmental interactions. Learning is the key process to provide change in development in the child and the adolescent. Adolescent development (youth development) conversely is the process whereby human beings known as young adults acquire skills and abilities to drive them in life. These changes crop up in a young person’s life in various contexts, which affect his/her, interaction with others.
I chose to major in Child and Adolescent Development in order to gain deeper knowledge of concepts and issues concerning the study of behavioral development in children young adults and the various contexts that surround them. Child and Adolescent Development program assists in applying different specific theories related to development in specific communities. This program helps in gaining knowledge of different cultures and races thus increasing their self awareness making it feasible to discover strategies for applying social justice amongst the community at large.
Child and Adolescent Development program has enabled me to deliver information orally in a way that I effectively connect with my audience, given that I know how to relate with them. Moreover, it assists me in critical writing of theories that build the child and the adolescent. This course facilitates me to know about the development of people from birth and growing up to be young adults in a society with many cultures. It describes and criticizes methods used to examine and explain child development which include the design and data processing.
Majoring in Child and Adolescent Development articulates the impact of developing this profession in other areas concerning career ethics of services allocated to the youth in the society. Besides, it defines literacy that enables effective access and dissemination of information, thus managing information by using media sources, applying the methods of presenting them. I can demonstrate deep knowledge of children’s growth in their four most important domains and clearly understand them.
Child and Adolescent Development, connects issues concerning child augmentation and tutoring. In addition, I have managed to apply my knowledge to solve problems in practical contexts with both children and adolescents. This enables to clearly understand the role given concerning children and the manner in which they socialize with family and society. The program examines information about children from various sources, for example journals.
As a professional in Child and Adolescent Development, I am able to read comprehensively and write clearly on issues related to children and young adults. I understand the ethics and responsibilities of working with children and families, thus enabling me to utilize communication skills to facilitate their development and offer me an opportunity to face challenges of working with others in this field. I will also be able to study culture, ethnicity and gender because as a professional one has to understand fully personal biases plus privilege level before evaluating the characteristics of other people. Through understanding the concept of this course, I can formulate research and tackle questions in this major. Interaction and communication with children and young adults becomes easier and convenient for me, making the young generation feel much appreciated in the community.
