Child slavery/bonded labor.

Term paper
This is the list of possible topics for your term paper. Please select whichever one appeals to you most. Some of these suggestions allow for choice within the topic, while others are very specific. Papers on a topic not chosen from this list will not be accepted. Papers that have been submitted to any other course will not be accepted – new work only, please! Remember, this is a research based term paper, not an opinion paper or an essay. You must draw upon a minimum of three peer-reviewed academic journals or college-level books from academic or professional publishers for your core research data. You must also include at least one direct quotation from each of the sources you use.
1. Child slavery/bonded labor. Child labor occurs world-wide to some degree. In some countries (e.g. The USA) it is highly regulated, but in some other countries child labor is considered acceptable, even essential, to the welfare of the populace. Explore the differences between child labor, child slavery and bonded labor. Discuss how consumerism has fueled the growth of these practices world-wide. Discuss the effect of the globalization practices of Western or International corporations, who benefit from or exploit the desperate conditions in many Third World countries to produce massive amounts of “affordable” goods for us. Explore, briefly, the ways this is the same as/different from the historical African Slave Trade. Include suggestions for change
Your term paper must be submitted using the SafeAssign site available via the menu button, and it must be in Word, RTF or PDF format. You will want to be sure:

it is on one of the required topics
it is in APA style
there are 10-11 pages in total, including a cover page, an abstract page, a references used page, and your actual paper that has about 7 pages (double spaced) of content
it has a clearly expressed and relevant thesis
your thesis is developed and supported in a logical fashion by the information and analysis you present in the rest of your paper i.e. your paper is clearly organized, says at the beginning what you are going to cover and why, presents it (your main point and supporting ideas) clearly and thoroughly in the paper, and ends with a concluding paragraph that sums it all up
you have used at least three direct quotations, properly cited, from your sources
you have used lots and lots of citations within your document showing where you got the information you are using (whether paraphrased or quoted), so that you do not fail for plagiarism! This way I never have to ask myself, “How did she/he know that?” because your source will be right there. If you are not certain whether or not to cite something, cite!
you have a citation for everything listed in your references list, and a reference for everything cited in your paper
there are no spelling or grammar errors in the final product because you have run the spell checking program and the grammar checking program in your word processing program, and have fixed all the problems that showed up
save a copy on more than one drive before you try to submit (in case of gremlins)!
