Contexts Paper
Due: Wednesday April20thhardcopy in-class ANDa digital copy via Turn-it-in on BlackBoard
Objective: The goal of this exercise is to introduce you to some additional topics not necessarily covered in the course. This assignment will allow you to apply the information you learned over the course of the semester to your selected article.
Instructions:
1. Select one of the Contexts articles posted on BB course documents to read for this assignment.
2. Your paper must be 2 full pages (one inch margins, double spaced) and must include:
a. A single-spaced heading including your full name and NUID
b. A brief (maximum half page) summary of your articles
c. A discussion of the ways in which the article connects to any of the topics that we discussed during the course (for some of the articles this may be more of a hypothetical, but you can speak about ways in which topics such as race, class, gender etc. could possible play a role)
i. This section of the article must use at least one sociological concept or term to connect your article to the class.
d. Your reaction to the article (e.g. what surprised you, why did you select this article, can you critique the article in any way?)
3. Submit a hardcopy at the beginning of class and a digital version via turn-it-in on BB
*In order to receive full credit on this assignment you must address all aspects of the assignment and use specific examples to illustrate your points. Additionally the paper must be clear and organized, proofread, and correctly apply terms and concepts from class.
