Club IT was started by two people who own an undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada cleared college in 2000 and opened their dream business, a nightclub. They had experience from playing gigs as musicians while in college where Ruben played drums while Lisa played the jazz violin. (Ruben, 2009)
Their club occupies 6000 square feet of space, with a 600 square foot dance floor, seating 220 people, a kitchen for appetizers and short orders ad a bar with four pour stations. Club IT’s mission statement states, “We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ’s, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT “. Their mission focuses on entertaining people and it encourages socialization. (Ruben, 2009)
The club plays different genres of music: hip-hop, techno, electronic, mp3 and live. Their taste in music favors the young generation. They have featured different acts from the beginning of the year to the end. In January they featured local bands and by December they featured folk. (Ruben, 2009)
When it comes to appetizers, the club offers a variety of food stuffs including vegetables and meat. Their beverages range from alcoholic to non-alcoholic and their prices are affordable. Apart from food stuffs and drinks Club IT also sells a couple of items; personalized t-shirts, baseball caps, short glasses and glass mugs. (Ruben, 2009)
Club IT has a total stuff of 19 members consisting of assistant manager, bartenders, wait staff, stewards, short-order cooks and security. The club has undergone remodeling and the owners are pleased with the outcome. (Ruben, 2009)
During the interview I discovered that Club IT has various business problems, their website was not created with an advanced information systems and the security of the website is wanting. The employee portal can easily accessed by anyone who has access to the web page. Advanced information systems are particular about information security; employee information should be accessed by management especially their payment plan. Ruben and Lisa should employ an IT expert to deal with their web design and to solve their IT problems that are business related.
Rueben and Lisa as the owners of the business could come up with an employee management system. The system deals with hiring, paying and firing employees. It keeps all the records concerning the employees, what they are in charge of, which package or item they signed at delivery, their schedule including their vacation days and their qualifications.
Club IT clientele are mostly technologically savvy minded people. To keep up with the customers the club also has to make use of technology so as to please and retain their customers. This can be achieved by making it such that the customers are able to buy merchandise online; post comments on what they want to see to improved their likes and dislikes. Customer experience can also be achieved by informing them advance on upcoming events in the club.
When t comes to suppliers and customers, the owners can employ the use of supply chain management system. The system will have record of the raw materials, products, payment method and name of the suppliers. This is going to show a clear route of how a supplier is shipping an item from his store to the club, who receives it and how it was used by the customers. This is going to make supply and delivery, easy fast and effective.
Since the customers are electronically savvy the use of the supply chain management system is going to be very handy, when a customer wants to use the club as a last minute resort, communication with the suppliers and their delivery is going to be better than the current system being used at Club IT.
The introduction of advanced information management systems is going to give the employees a better access to the club’s schedule. Everything is in the database and it is interconnected in such a way that the various departments have access to each other. At the end of the day, supply and delivery is going to be timely at Club IT.
