Communication Theory

Applied Communications Department
Project Brief: Case study Theory Analysis
Course Name & Code: CMC4623-Communication Theory
Project Description:
Students enrolled in this class will write a case study similar to the case studies they have been reading in the textbook assigned to this course and provide a theoretical analysis based on the theories covered in the class so far (up to chapter 7). Students need to follow the below guidelines when creating their case studies and theoretical analysis:

– Write a case study about a REAL case that happened in your professional (workplace) or personal life.
– You are encouraged to use real names of individuals and organizations. If you feel, however, more comfortable hiding such identities, please do so.
– Do not feel limited by space and word count. Focus on writing a good case study and meaningful theoretical analysis.
– Your theoretical analysis should not be limited to one theory. Many cases we experience can be analyzed using several communication theories. Be creative and comprehensive in your analysis.

Students are encouraged to use different resources to help them in applying the theories to their chosen cases. Use our library resources to help you elaborate on some of the theories.
What you will learn in this project/ Learning Outcomes
• Applying communication theories to real cases
• Analyzing the dynamics of communication in the personal and professional lives
• In depth understanding of communication theories.

First Draft Deadline: April 22, 12:00 pm.
