Reaction Paper # 1: Theories (due at the beginning of class 9/17)
Compare and contrast realist, liberal institutionalist and constructivist approaches to the study of institutions and international organization. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each approach in analyses of specific institutions. Which approaches to the study of institutions hold the most promise and why? Draw on specific examples from the readings or from current events to illustrate your arguments.
Reaction Paper #1 Format:
Reaction papers require that you complete the assigned readings for the week(s) when the paper is due. You should react to the essay prompts by thoughtfully incorporating the readings and providing a clearly written, coherent argument. Reaction papers should NOT simply be a summary of the readings; rather they should analyze the readings by responding to the prompt and reflecting on the discussion topic for that week. Reaction papers should be 3-4 pages long (double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman font, 1 in. margins).
