Core Values and Cultural Awareness

Students will write a paper in which they discuss both sides of a controversial issue pertaining to the course material (i.e. social psychology, multicultural psychology, or developmental psychology). The topics should allow students the opportunity to engage in self-reflection, to consider varying cultures, and should also include an ethical component. The “Taking Sides” book series on psychology is a good source for topics. Papers should reflect evidence of self-awareness, cultural awareness, understanding of different worldviews, and mastery of APA ethical standards. Further, assertions and conclusions should be well-supported by valid peer-reviewed academic sources.
