Course Work Statements
Statement one is true because everyone that is sane should reason out before undertaking their actions. Each individual is responsible for their endeavors, thoughts and emotions. When one does wrong to another like abusing them, hurting their emotions and making them cry for instance, they should be in a position to accept responsibility for their actions thus are able to apologize and this creates a good environment in society. According to (Moya, 87) things in society appear morally correct more when individuals accept to take responsibility for their mistakes. Thus, they are able to live together well and maintain peace in the society. In this way, they move forward by accepting and learning that some behavior is wrong and either interferes with individual’s feelings or the society.
Statement two is true because when there is democracy, people are their own government and power is made by the people and worked out by them. The church sets the pace for the people by defining certain morals thus giving a direction in which people are supposed to follow. The church will for example define certain morals by teaching the people the commandments like they should not steal or not lie. The state, when taught some of these morals by the church, is able to do right and avoid wrong, and aspire to do that which is correct in order to be right with God.
Thus, issues of corruption for example obtaining bribes will not be witnessed because the state will understand that such kind of behavior is against the morals. The church should not depend on how the state is run, when defining morals for the state. They should only teach what is true and right according to the law of God. If the state for example considers murder a bad crime such that an unlawful person found to have murdered should be punished by being murdered. The church however considers all crimes including taking a bribe. The two institutions however each need a guideline. When the church becomes more powerful, mall people will keep performing crimes just because punishing them will be morally wrong. Thus, they should both work together for the good of the people.
Statement three is false because individuals cannot be accused for crimes they haven’t been found guilty of. One can be thought or can seem to have committed a sin. If one is found with a corpse in the house for instance, they may not have known what is behind their death, but they may be the first victim. One feels degraded, disliked and may not be able to defend themselves once accused of mistakes they dint do.
It is therefore true that through know ledge of moral we can go for the right and avoid the wrong in society. Accusing an individual of sins they dint commit would not make much difference in society because one would be forced to take responsibility for that which they dint do. If they are punished for instance, the punishment will not correct and shape their lives. They will instead keep lamenting about being punished unfairly. Thus, responsibility for one’s mistakes will be taken and help an individual if they are responsible for the mistakes accused of.
