Your assignment is a 3 To 4 page critical analysis of character, setting, or point-of-view that requires you to include documented references, using the MLA format, to a secondary source or sources. You may select to analyze any one of the short stories on the syllabus. A List of Works Cited page must be included. Your goal with this paper is to teach your reader ONE IMPORTANT IDEA about character, setting or point-of-view from the story you have chosen. After developing a focused thesis statement, you will select the best PIECES of the plot and the best information from your research to support your thesis. You must include several citations from your secondary sources per page of your paper. In other words, you are like a lawyer supporting your case (thesis) with evidence from the story itself as your first line of defence and evidence from your research as your expert witnesses giving further support to your position.
