Working in Partnership with Service Users in Social Care Practice
Description:
This essay should be based on a case discussion of a person or family receiving health or social care and known to the student, Using relevant theory the student should critically discuss the relationship between themselves as practitioners and the service user (and/or any carers / significant others / family etc.). (Discussion may also include other relevant social care practitioners). The essay should demonstrate an understanding of how to Work in Partnership with service users. Amongst other matters discussion should cover issues arising from the social context of the user such as issues of discrimination, inequality in society and user involvement.
CONFIDENTIALITY should be preserved by the student in the submission of case details.
Specification:
A 2,000-word essay, using the specified Coursework Title.
A case description using an appropriate outline, in an appendix; approximately 200 words
The work should aim to fulfil the following course learning outcomes:
critically explore the results of inequality on service demand and provision, and the effects of anti-discriminatory practice.
critically evaluate the concepts of user involvement, partnership, self-help, advocacy and empowerment and reflect upon their impact on service development and delivery
The essay should specially cover:
a. An understanding of the social and psychological factors that are relevant to consider in their chosen case
b. A discussion of how they worked in partnership with the person / people in their case example
c. Examples of the use of theory in their partnership work
d. And should critically explores concepts like inequality, and user involvement in their work
