Requirement
In this report you are required to submit two parts. The first part (about 2 200 words) is an analysis of the case and involves five tasks:
1. Describe the disaster and its physical causes.
2. Describe the underlying failures of organization.
3. Analyse both the benefits and limitations of the different ways in which Western retailers can generally influence upstream members of their supply chains – and assess their relevance to this case.
4. In one of the lectures it is suggested that ‘a company cannot be considered more sustainable than its supply chain’. Use this event to analyse in what ways a company 1) can be more sustainable than its supply chain, 2) can be no more sustainable than its supply chain.
5. Use this event to analyse why a company should be profoundly concerned with the sustainability of its supply chain.
The first part as a whole is worth about 70% of the total mark. Each task within the first part is worth approximately equal marks.
