Point of View Essay
Introduction
This paper entails description of the Donghuamen Night Snack Street in Beijing, capital city of china. The descriptions include both the pleasant and unpleasant observations of the events taking place in the city. It also contains rhetorical analysis of the place and a personal reflection of the lessons learnt from the writing.
Body
This street is a business street with all sorts of business premises for instance hotels and restaurants, shopping malls, and butcheries among other premises. The planning of these street is excellent with the layout of the premises along this street is appealing to the eye. It can make one fancy just going window-shopping along this street. The display of the products in these premises also attracts one to shop in the street. The language used by those handling the clients is so friendly and ethical. Some points along the street has nice aroma mostly from the restaurants and the hotels. From the observation of this street, one can conclude that the planner for the construction of the street did marvellous job in his or her design outline for the street. Despite the pleasant or appealing factors about this street, a number of factors that makes it unpleasant too. These factors include too loud noise, presences of beggars, stinking garbage disposals, and overcrowding of people and motor traffic. There is too much noise in these streets from entertainment joints, hawkers, hooting vehicles, to loud music. For example, music played from the entertainment joints such as clubs and some shopping malls is too loud. One has to struggle to grasp what his or her conversations colleague is saying. The garbage disposal is also poor with dumpsites all over the corners of the street. These lead to bad stench in most parts of the street. Overcrowding in this street is also annoying with so many commuters and motor vehicles. This makes the movement of people from one point to another difficult because of the human and motor traffic. Presence of beggars in this street is not only annoying but also paints the street negatively since some of the beggars harass tourists. The presence of beggars discourages tourists from visiting the street for fear of harassment and event theft.
This street has both positive and negative events. The observation criteria I used in dividing the observation into pleasant and unpleasant happenings in the same city depends on the kind of impression such factors have on the image of the street. Events or factors, which affects the city negatively implied to unpleasant ones and the ones that had a positive impact on the street meant the pleasant ones. For example, the nice layout of the city and appealing display of the products appeals to the public, therefore having positive impact on the streets observation. Factors such as unpleasant smell, presence of beggars, congestion, and noise pollution are annoying. These annoying observations relates to unpleasant factors.
Reflection/Conclusion
I can use the techniques I applied while writing this paper to come up with a scholarly essay. For instance, noting down of points or observation ensures that all areas are covered in the writing and unnecessary omissions avoided. Using the writers’ toolbox when coming up with this paper has affected my perception on the way articles in the magazines are written. It clearly shows that some writer do not follow the required steps for writing a good article. From the paper it is evident that nomatter how pleasant a location is it must have unpleasant side. For this street has a nice layout of building and structures but also has a high population number, which makes it hard for one to move from one location to another.
